Nano-Verses is a collaborative research and creation project. It is a project about the imagining of a new medium, the story of its innovations and experiments, and the varied practitioners that contributed to its making. It brings together a team of engineering scientists from the Ciber Lab at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, artists based in Toronto-NYC, and a media researcher now at the Université de Montréal. Our common interest is a branch of nanotechnology called nano-optics or, specifically, the structural design of materials using the principles of nano-optical physics. Our goal has been to think about the possibilities of a new visual material built from these emerging nanotechnologies.
